This is random, but I thought I’d post the weight of the Specialized Axis Elite Disc wheelset.
I had trouble finding accurate weight information about these wheels before purchasing my 2018 Specialized Diverge, so I thought I’d do someone else a favor and put this out there. I weighed these without disc brake rotors or skewers. Obviously, the weight will increase with rotors, skewers, a cassette and whatever tire setup you choose. I ran this wheelset tubeless with Trigger Pro 38 tires before changing to a different setup.
Wheels: Specialized Axis Elite Disc
Front: 762 grams
Rear: 984 grams
Total: 1,746 grams
Thank you! despite them being fairly common I couldn’t find their weight either until I stumbled across this one!
Thanks for this! Been looking for exact weights and didnt want to remove cassette and discs to find out!
Thanks for this! I’ve been looking to see someone leave any info about the Axis Elite wheelset. I have a Diverge, too! Question: How has your experience been running tubeless with them? I know they’re not officially tubeless-ready wheels, but I am interested in trying it out. How much gravel/tubeless setup have you run with them, and any tips or issues you’ve come up against?
I ran them tubeless from day 1 and had no issues at all. My local bike shop just wrapped some tubeless tape on the rims and they worked perfectly. I even swapped the tires a few times myself to ride some smaller, cyclocross-specific sizes before going back to the 38s.
And here’s another nice surprise: I eventually bought a new Allez Sprint Disc which came with DT Swiss R470 wheels (which is what the new Diverge Comp comes with) and the Axis Elite set is lighter! I forgot the actual weight of the DT set, but it’s a little heavier than the Axis set.
Hi mate I’m trying to work out if these wheels have sealed bearings or loose cup and cone bearings, also do you know if there is an adaptor to make the thru axle into quick release?
Any help appreciated, thanks
Thank you very much !! is it possible to use a 28c tire on the axis elite disc?
I’m sure it is. I can’t think of a reason why they wouldn’t work.
